A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Ardiot in Paris in the 18th century. It has a mechanical cock movement with a fusee and chain system and a verge escapement. The 18 carat yellow gold case is topped with a simple pendant and a rounded bow.

Ardiot was a skilled watchmaker active in Paris in the mid to late 18th century. During a period of refinement in French horology, he was known for producing reliable verge watches that combined technical precision with the elegant aesthetics of the Louis XV and Louis XVI eras. His work typically features the characteristic coq (pierced balance bridge) and sophisticated fusee and chain movements that were the standard for quality European timepieces.
