Gold open faced lever watch

A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by L. Leroy & Cie in Paris, circa 1925. This watch has a high grade mechanical movement with lever escapement, a bi metallic screw cut balance wheel, and a blued steel balance spring. It features a pendant winding mechanism and a pull tab (tirette) for time setting. The white enamel dial shows black painted Arabic numerals, an outer railway minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gilt Breguet style hands. The 18 carat gold case has a slim profile with a clipped back. The interior of the case back bears a historical military engraving: Ecole d’application d’artillerie navale, Monsieur Cap….. (B.M.L.A.), classé 1er promotion, 1929-1931. The watch is numbered and presented in its original case. Case, dial, and movement are all signed.
