Gold open faced repeating pocket watch by Mercier

A French rare early skeletonized verge watch with striking train and repeating quarters, circa 1775. The watch features an 18 carat gold bicoloured case with a five part lateral hinge and glass on both sides. It has a rare, fully skeletonized movement, engraved and gilt, with polished steel parts. The bridge is signed Mercier Paris no. 2514, and the watch repeats hours and quarters a toc. The enamel dial is signed, shows Roman numerals for hours and Arabic numerals for minutes, and has its original hands.
