Unsigned pocket watch with day and date indication
–
A French gold pocket chronometer with centre seconds, day, and date indications, circa 1800. The watch features an unsigned gilded full plate movement with a decoratively engraved border, a spring detent escapement, a large, plain, flat four arm balance, a delicately pierced and engraved balance bridge, and a substantial regulation arc engraved on the backplate. It boasts a white enamel dial with an eccentric time display featuring Arabic numerals, gold arrow tip hands, a gold moon hand for the centre seconds, an outer Arabic minute ring, and two subsidiary dials for the day and date. The gold case has a plain polished back, a stop slide beneath the bezel at 2 o’clock, a stirrup form bow, and the inside back is numbered 10632 and with an incuse mark DMI and an indistinct control mark, along with a pendant displaying French control marks.
