A remarkable gold enamel French verge pocket watch with chatelaine, circa 1775.
Gold enamel case with half pearl set bezels, twisted band, engine turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled back side, engraved gold decor and the centre with Champlevé enamel: polychrome flowers in a vase against a gold ground, framed by a border of enamel pearls. Enamel dial with radial Arabic numerals and gold “Poker & Beetle” hands. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, with chain/fusee, conical movement pillars, three-arm brass balance, blued balance spring, verge escapement and fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
