Rare enamelled gold pocket watch

A rare French 18 carat gold and enamel skeletonized pocket watch made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, circa 1825. The gilded brass skeletonized fully engraved movement is fitted with a cylinder escapement, fusee and chain, three arm brass balance with a flat balance spring and an engraved balance cock with a polished steel indicator and polished steel coqueret.

The back of the watch features a polychrome enamel painting of a man, a woman and a baby against a translucent blue background surrounded by stones, showcasing the artistry and decorative appeal of this timepiece. The glazed cuvette adds a touch of elegance to the design. The face has a white enamel chapter ring with Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions, a see through center disclosing the engraved movement and blued steel Breguet hands. Dial signed Lépine, movement signed Lepine à Paris.
