Platinum watch with brushed silver dial

An elegant, heavy French platinum keyless dress watch with Breguet numerals, circa 1925. A polished case, wide bezel, triangular bow, snap on case back. Brushed silver dial with applied polished Breguet numerals, outer engraved dot minute track and blued steel Cathedrale hands. Rhodium plated movement, made by European Watch & Clock Co. Inc., Geneva striping decoration, 19 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed Cartier, and the movement signed European Watch & Clock Co. Inc., case numbered on both parts.

Cartier was founded by Louis-François Cartier. He was born in 1810. In 1847 Louis-François was able to take over the jewellery shop of his teacher Adolphe Picard at 31 Rue de Montreuil, Paris. It is a French jewellery house specializing in making very luxurious jewellery such as rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and watches.
