A Swiss gilt and enamel jump seconds pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Gilt metal ‘Chinese Calibre’ movement with gilt bridges engraved overall with scrolls, large bimetallic compensation balance. Gilt metal cuvette engraved with Chinese characters. White enamel dial, Roman numerals and jump seconds. The case polychrome enameled with a tiger hunt scene depicting a turbaned hunter on a galloping horse in pursuit of a tiger within a palm tree festooned foreground. Pearl set bezels and bow. Movement signed.
