An exquisite watch with quarter repeater, Louis Audemars & Cie in le Crêt Meylan, near le Brassus in Switzerland, circa 1868. The numbered open faced case of this watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, features the Louis Audemars punch and the white enamel dial has an outer ring with Arabic five minute numerals, Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and fine gold hands. The top quality movement features an exquisite Louis Audemars precision lever escapement with a quarter repeater, wolf’s toothing, gold wheels and a Louis Audemars bishop’s crook lever.
