Gold verge lady’s pocket watch

A fine French 20K gold, enamel and diamond-set open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1775. The backset with a painted on enamel portrait of a young lady with flowers and a ribbon in her hair, the border and bezel are set with rose-cut diamonds in silver mountings. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals intersected by rose-cut diamonds, outer minute divisions with Arabic five-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and Louis XV hands. A hinged gilt-brass full plate movement, turned cylindrical baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock, silver regulation disc. Dial and movement signed.
