Gold open faced key wound verge watch

A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced pocket watch made by Abraham Vacheron Girod, circa 1800. It has a mechanical key wound movement with a verge escapement, chain and fusee system, and a richly decorated balance cock, signed Abm. Vacheron Girod on the plate. The gold sunray engine turned dial features applied gold Roman numerals for the hours, an outer dot minute track, an applied three colour gold rosette in the center, outermost applied multicolour gold floral and foliate decoration, and heavy spade hands. The timepiece is housed in a beautifully decorated case with a multicoloured scroll floral and foliate engraved bezel. It is attached to a pendant stem and a round suspension bow. The solid gold back cover features a fine engine turned pattern.
