Form pendant watch in the shape of a melon

A rare gold and enamel form and pendant watch ‘Melon’ with the original key, made in Genève, circa 1800. The melon shaped case of this watch was crafted from gold, features eight separate segments, every second segment with enamel painting, hinged with spring lid function and a tiny opening button in the pendant. The white enamel dial features an outer track with Arabic 15 minute numerals, Arabic hour numerals and gold hands. The movement is fitted with a miniature verge escapement.
