An unusual gold and enamel melon form watch made in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1800. The case of this watch is crafted from gold in the shape of a melon and has eight separate segments with an enamel painting on every second segment, a hinged spring lid function and a tiny opening button in the pendant. The white enamel dial has Arabic hours, outer minute divisions with Arabic fifteen minute numerals and gold hands. The miniature movement has a verge escapement.
