A very fine and rare, early Patek Philippe gold hunting cased watch minute repeater with split-seconds chronograph, Genèva circa 1884. An early American 18k gold case, splendidly engraved,Patek Philippe precision lever movement in best quality “special”, Genèva stripes, special fine adjusting device, repeating hours, quarters and minutes; split-seconds chronograph “Rattrapante”, original enamel dial, inscribed Bailey, Banks & Biddle, Philadelphia, original hands, overall very nice condition of preservation. According to the archives, this rare movement was sold on the 4th, Septemeber, 1885. For the watches sold to America, Patek Philippe only supplied the movement and dial, the case was manufactured in the USA.
