Gold ring watch attributed to Isaac Daniel Piguet
–
An important Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel pearl set keyless musical automaton ring watch, circa 1800. Attributed to Isaac Daniel Piguet, Genève. The ring is octagonal shaped with a three coloured gold animated scene depicting a lady playing a hurdy gurdy, accompanied by a gentleman playing the violin and a dog lying at his feet, against a glazed, finely painted polychrome enamel panel showing a drawing room in the background, a further half pearl set bezel, lightly engraved flat band and slot for the winding lever on the back. A rectangular dial with canted corners. Brass full plate movement, a pinned drum with five tuned teeth, rack winding, a six wheel train, the last pinion in eccentric bushing for tempo control, an automaton driven from a spring loaded lever acting on a pentagonal cam fixed to the first wheel arbour (after the pinned barrel). Signed on the movement in a manner typical of I.D. Piguet.
