Rare gold châtelaine watch

A very fine and rare Swiss 18K gold and enamel pearl-set medallion pendant watch with elaborate matching gold and enamel chain, circa 1800. Back with doves and flowers against azure champlevé enamel, enamel bezel, set in the centre of a delicate plate decorated with filigree gold birds and whole pearls, flower vase, framed by a string of graduated pearls alternating with enamelled laurel leaves.

White enamel dial, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic markers, winding aperture at 3 o’clock. Gilt Breguet hands. Hinged, gilt brass set in cut protective ring, fixed barrel, cylinder escapement, brass escape wheel, brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, one-footed lightly engraved solid cock. Chain punched with later French import mark.
