A very fine 18 cvarat gold verge watch with relief case & stone setting, made by Frères Esquivillon & De Choudens in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1800. The open faced à goutte (water drop shape) case is crafted from 18 Carat gold and has a back lid with raised blossoms, worked in yellow, pink and white gold, set with small blossoms of rubies, turquoises and pearls and is numbered. The white enamel dial has an outer ring with black Roman hour numerals and filigree Breguet gold hands. The movement has a rare, super flat Bagnolet calibre with negative winding squares, a cylinder escapement, eight rubies and Wolf’s toothing.
