Rose gold and enamel verge pocket watch

A fine French rare 18 carat rose gold and enamel open faced pocket watch made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, circa 1765. The verge movement is completely skeletonized. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minute divisions, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and silver, stone set hands. The case with stone set bezels, a very fine polychrome enamel painting on the back and on the inside back, a camaïeu enamel landscape scene in violet. Dial signed.

The enamel painting on both sides, which is in excellent original condition, and the skeletonized movement, which is very rare for enamel verge watches, especially in a ladies’ size, are the particularities of this watch.
