Gold open faced keyless cylinder watch

A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced keywind quarter repeating pocket watch made by Louis Audemars, Le Brassus, circa 1860. Examined by E.J. Dent, 61 Strand, London. Quarter repeater on two steel gongs by two hammers, activated by the slide located on the case band at 2 o’clock. An engine turned case back with, in the center, an escutcheon. White enamel dial with radial Roman hour numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 and blued steel spade hands. A gilded brass full plate movement, going barrel, cylinder escapement, gilt brass monometallic balance and blued steel flat hairspring, the repeater work on the main plate under the dial. The dial and movement are signed by the maker and the cuvette by the retailer.
