An extremely rare Swiss gold and enamelled beetle-form watch, circa 1870-1900. The case of this watch made of 18 carat gold depicts a beetle with hinged wings overlaid with green and red guilloché enamel and eyes set with emeralds. A white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals for the hours and a red 12, outer gold minute dots and black metal heavy moon hands. A cylinder movement. The dial and movement were restored around 1900.
