Gold complicated repeater by Louis Audemars
–
A rare and exceptional Swiss pocket watch in absolutely perfect condition with minute repeater, dead independent seconds, perpetual calendar and moon phases, circa 1874. Signed Louis Audemars and made for Le Roy et Fils Horloger de la Marine in Paris. This watch boasts a handwound mechanical movement with 45 jewels, a doubletrain, hour and minute repeating functions, and a lever escapement. It features a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, an outer minute/seconds ring marked with five Arabic markers, independent dead centre seconds, and blued spade hands.
–
There are four subsidiary sunk dials: a four year perpetual calendar at 12 o’clock, moon phases at 6 o’clock, a day of the week counter at 9 o’clock, and a date counter at 3 o’clock. It is housed in an 18 carat gold case, signed on the cuvette by Le Roy and punched with the Louis Audemars trademark inside the back cover. The watch was completely overhauled by expert Philippe Prutner in 2001 and is in perfect working order.
