An English 18 carat gold open faced pocket watch with triple calendar, circa 1861. The ¾ plate movement with an English pointed tooth lever escapement, bimetallic screw balance/compensation balance under a diamond rose, screwed chaton, manual winding and key setting. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, the date at 12 o’clock, days of the week at 9, months of the year at 3, subsidiary seconds at 6 and original blued fleur-de-lys hands. The plain, coin edged case with a reeded band, solid gold cuvette, a round bow with a pusher for opening the back cover, a date letter for 1861 and maker’s mark JW for James Wintle. Dial signed Wales, McCulloch London, movement signed and numbered.
