A very fine and large French/Swiss 18 carat rose gold minute repeating precision watch made by chronometer maker A.H. Rodanet in Paris, circa 1885. The polished plain case with a numbered cuvette, signed A.H. Rodanet Constructeur de Chronomètres 36. Rue Vivienne Paris. A top class movement by Patek Philippe with a lever escapement, minute repeater and wolf teeth, signed A.H. Rodanet Paris. Perfectly preserved white enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands, signed A.H. Rodanet.

Auguste Hilaire Rodanet, one of the most important French chronometer makers, served as Patek Philippe’s representative in Paris. He was awarded the “Knight of the Legion of Honour” on July 9th, 1883. In 1890, he established the brand “Horlogerie Rodanet de Paris”. Auguste Hilaire also served as the President of the company.
