A decorative, Swiss, gold cylinder pendant watch in a pearl- and agate cameo set with open face and matching brooch, circa 1874. Retailed by Louis Rey, Marseille (France).
Round shaped 18 Carat pink gold case with hinged case back. Case back decorated in the neo renaissance style, with a round shaped agate cameo carved with Cupid playing Lyra inside a shell boat conducted by dolphins; the matching brooch is set with an oval shaped agate cameo carved with Cupid conducting its shell boat. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals and gold Louis XV hands. Keyless winding, gilded brass movement with going barrel, cylinder escapement, monometallic balance, and blued steel flat hairspring Movement signed by Vacheron Constantin and cuvette signed by the retailer. Accompanied by an 18 Carat rose gold matching brooch decorated en suite.
